Tottenham fullback Benoit Assou-Ekotto has explained his recent shaggy hairdo.

To prove fame hasn't gone to his head, the reason he has abandoned his usual plaits for an outrageous Afro is... it's been too nippy to go to the hairdresser!

"The hair is like this because, honestly, it has been very cold and I haven't had the will to go out and get my hair done.

"From my flat, it is a long way to go to Tottenham to get it done and, generally, I am lazy. So I just wash it and play like this.

"I don't know if I will leave it like this," he revealed to the Mirror.
