Tottenham defender Eric Dier admits they weren't at their best for victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Dier says keeping a clean sheet was crucial for the 2-0 win.
He told the club's website: “It was a tough game against good opposition, fantastic atmosphere, very enjoyable to play in, our fans were amazing as well.
“We're very happy to get the three points but we're disappointed with our performance because I think we can play a lot better, especially in the first half, we can play better in possession, back to front, every one of us, but we defended well as a team, we dug in when we had to, and we know we can create chances and score.
“It was difficult, they were well organised, but we have to be able to overcome these situations and play better with the ball. There are still positives, the way we managed to stick together, to defend well under pressure, defend set pieces, scored the goals, could have scored a few more as well. We know if we can defend well and keep clean sheets, we'll always create chances and always score."
