Despite being billed as a 'friendly', Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld believes his side's clash with the MLS All-Stars on Wednesday night will be anything but as each side looks to prove themselves for different reasons.
Belgium international Alderweireld revealed the nature of the games, with teammates vying for spots and all-star players looking to showcase themselves on the big stage, meant that both sides would be taking the game very seriously.
"I think these times there are no friendly games anymore," Alderweireld, who joined Spurs from Atletico Madrid recently, said on Tuesday.
"Everybody wants to show themselves, wants to give their best. So it's going to be tough, we know that. And it's going to be very hard for us as well, so we have to give 100 percent.
"We take it quite seriously, of course, because we are in preseason, and we have to prepare ourselves for the game in two weeks in the Premier League."
