Tottenham boss Mourinho delivers Gedson verdict: Very bad for us and him

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho admits Gedson Fernandes is set to cut short his loan and return to Benfica next month.

Gedson has struggled for minutes since arriving on-loan earlier this year.

"The player deserves all our respect, as does Benfica, which is a friendly club. Whatever they decide is fundamental and will prevail. The situation is sad, because he was left out of the Europa League list, which reduced his opportunities in nine games, where we had five substitutions and battled a lot," said Mourinho.

"Staying out of these games breaks confidence levels and even dynamics, and it was very bad for him. Other than that, he can play in the Premier League, but we can only have six players and the goalkeeper on the bench, so it is normal to choose who has more rhythm.

"These six months have been very bad for us and for him. Furthermore, and this is incredible, since he arrived that he did not miss a minute of training, which further reduces the levels of motivation, but he has been a very good professional."
