Tottenham boss Conte: We wanted to give South Korean fans chance to welcome Son

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte explained holding back Heung-min Son for their 6-3 win against Team K League.

Son jumped from the bench to score twice on the day.

Conte said, "I think with Sonny, we started with the players that started the pre-season 10 days ago. Sonny has only three days of training sessions with us. It was the same for Harry Kane and the same for Hojbjerg and the players who played in the second half. Also Hugo Lloris. Then we decided also for Sonny to come in alone and receive the applause of the people and to show their affection. It was for this reason.

"As I said before it was amazing the welcome that we received at the airport. To play in front of 64,000 people despite it only being a friendly game was amazing and for this reason I want to say thanks to all the people from me, the club and all of the players. It's a privilege and an honour to stay in Korea and we are enjoying it a lot.

"The Korea All Star was a good team and they created many difficulties [for us]. They scored three goals but I think they played good football and I have seen a lot of good players in this team."
