Tottenham are growing confident of landing Barcelona striker David Villa.

The London Evening Standard says talks with Barcelona over a £12million deal for Villa are believed to be at an advanced stage.

Tottenham used the post-season trip to the Caribbean to conduct a meeting between owner Joe Lewis, chairman Daniel Levy and manager Andre Villas-Boas to discuss summer targets.

Villas-Boas is continuing to push for big names to help turn the club into not only top four contenders but also title challengers.
