To be fair, Rashford is already grounded - Man Utd teammate Lingard

Manchester United attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard has claimed that his teammate Marcus Rashford remains a grounded person despite his new-found fame.

The 18-year-old striker, who made his senior debut last month, has become a fan favourite after scoring crucial goals for United against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City this season.

Regarding the talented teen, Lingard says his colleague does not need any reminding regarding the current position he finds himself in under the guidance of Louis van Gaal.

After nothing the winner against crosstown rivals City on the weekend, Lingard told ManUtd.com of Rashford: "He is buzzing but I was keeping him grounded!

"He is already grounded anyway to be fair; he is always grounded and has his feet on the ground. He's looking forward to the rest of his career now."

He added: "We look after the young ones and to see Marcus doing well is a great boost for all the club and the homegrown talent coming through.

"I just told him not to over hype things. He has done well and everybody is really happy for him. He doesn't go out and doesn't drink. He is not one of the lads to start going out and get a big head.

"He has always been a hard worker.

"When Marcus was coming through he was small but he is massive now and will fill out. He will cause defenders even more problems when he fills out. He always had the ability and everybody recognised that.

"The manager has given him the chance and he is scoring a lot of goals now for us."
