Tindall praises Newcastle fans for Tonali support

Newcastle United fans chanting the name of summer signing Sandro Tonali would have pleased him.

That is the view of the club's assistant Jason Tindall, who spoke about Tonali after his team's 4-4 draw with Luton Town.

During the game, fans could be heard belting out a rendition of Tonali's song.

Tindall told Chronicle Live: "It's great because Sandro is a great kid, great lad. He trains really hard every single day and he's going to be a top player for this club moving forward.

"To see the fans showing him that love during a really difficult time for him is really important. I'm sure he takes a lot of confidence and love from that."

Tindall added: "We have quite a few months before Sandro can actually play a competitive game. Nearer the time he will play more competitive football (behind closed doors friendly games).

"He's training very well every single game. We are doing work with him every single day to make sure when he does come into the team he's ready. Then he can go out and show all the Newcastle fans what a top player he is."
