Teixeira eager to remain with Liverpool

Joao Carlos Teixeira insists he wants to stay put at Liverpool.

The contract of the 23-year-old attacking midfielder expires this summer but Teixeira says he is happy on Merseyside and wants to remain with the Reds if manager Jurgen Klopp wants to keep him.

The Portuguese talent netted his first goal for the club in Wednesday night's FA Cup third round replay win over Exeter City and is eager to establish himself at Anfield rather than departing at the end of the current campaign.

"We are in conversations at the moment," Teixeira told the Liverpool Echo.

"My contract runs out at the end of this season. I want to stay but we will see what happens.

"I don't want to think about my future too much right now. I just want to play football. I want to enjoy this moment and try to build on it.

"I just have to keep working hard and keep doing my best in training. Whenever chances come along like this to impress Jurgen Klopp, it's up to me to show him that I deserve more chances."
