Swedish veteran Andreas Granqvist has welcomed surprise interest from Manchester United.

Granqvist, 33, is currently playing in his homeland for Helsingborgs and would be available on a cut-price deal.

Granqvist, who has Premier League experience during a two-year stay at Wigan Athletic earlier this decade, was asked about the links and he insists that the prospect of the move excites him.

He told FotbollDireckt: "I know that there is a lot of interest for me.

"United is incredibly flattering but I have not heard anything concrete yet."

There is still three months before the transfer window reopens, giving United plenty of time to assess their options.
