Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has hit out at former England U21 coach Stuart Pearce.
Shelvey, who played in all three of England's group stage defeats under Pearce at the European U21 Championship in the summer, placed the blame for failure squarely on the former coach's tactics.
"We got battered by the Italians and could not get the ball off them - but we had the players to do that to them," said the Swansea midfielder.
"It's frustrating because you get told to sit off and defend when we should be going out there and attacking them. We need to show a bit more bravery when we do play for our countries to get on the ball and pass it."
