Swansea defender Latibeaudiere happy ex-Man City teammate Foden now proving himself

Swansea City defender Joel Latibeaudiere is ready to face former club Manchester City in tonight's FA Cup tie.

Latibeaudiere was the England U17 captain who lifted the World Cup in 2017 while City whiz Phil Foden won the Golden Ball for the best player in the tournament.

Swansea boss Steve Cooper was the manager, his assistant Mike Marsh was on the coaching staff and Marc Guehi, on loan at the Liberty Stadium from Chelsea, was Latibeaudiere's partner in central defence and a scorer in the final.

"Phil is a top player who can impact the game in so many different ways," says 21-year-old Latibeaudiere. "I thought he deserved more minutes last season but now he's getting them and playing well. It shows Pep was waiting for the right time.

"He was in my team when I moved there from Leeds at the age of 12 and I've seen him progress.

"When he went into the first-team dressing room at 16, he got his seat and didn't come back. He's a great guy, he's never changed, he just loves football and has loved Man City since he was a baby. It's great to see he's finally getting what he deserves."
