Super sub Giroud pays tribute to Cech in 'patient' Arsenal win

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has praised the work of his goalkeeper Petr Cech after the Gunners beat Bayern Munich 2-0 in the Champions League.

Giroud scored the opening goal for Arsenal after coming off the bench in the second half but was quick to praise teammate Cech for his performance in the Arsenal goal, constantly denying Bayern's dangerous attack.

Giroud said: "
We knew that it would be difficult but thankfully we have done it. We have to thank Petr [Cech] because he has had a fantastic game."

The Frenchman was also keen to stress that his side can use the result against Bayern to give the Gunners great confidence for the rest of the season.

"We are all pleased because we played against a fantastic team and managed to beat them," he added.

"We knew Bayern Munich would have a lot of the ball - they had more than 70% - but we were patient and finally scored. Now we need to focus on the following gams and keep the confidence high."
