Sunderland plan talks with James McClean over his controversial tweets.

The Journal says the Black Cats have long had reservations about McClean's presence on Twitter and Martin O'Neill is on record as advising him to leave the site after receiving criticism from Northern Ireland fans about his decision to commit his international future to the Republic of Ireland.

Now Sunderland will issue McClean with a fresh reminder about the dangers of posting heated messages on the social network site after a weekend in which he made himself the centre of attention with some ill-advised comments.
