Sunderland boss Roy Keane will bid for Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon this week.

The Sunday Mail says Gordon has shot to the top of the Irishman's list after original target Jussi Jaaskelainen decided to see out the final year of his contract at Bolton.

Keane and his backroom staff have made extensive checks with their network of contacts on Gordon's ability and the way he leads his life off the pitch. Every report has been favourable and a £3m offer is on its way - £2m less than Jambos' valuation.

The move could depend on Gordon's desire to leave the Jambos to play in England.
