Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has confirmed talks with Manchester United for striker Danny Welbeck.
Bruce believes the 19-year-old would be an excellent addition to his squad alongside Darren Bent, Kenwyne Jones and Fraizer Campbell.
He admitted: "We are talking to Manchester United and there is a possibility but it is still up in the air at the moment and there is still a bit to do.
"Last year we went all season with three strikers and for me that is a little bit thin.
"In that sort of department if you have got more options then Danny would be a really good option for us."
