Stoke City have received some bad news with transfer target Yevhen Konoplyanka reportedly in Spain negotiating a deal with Atletico Madrid.

The Potters have been keen on a move for Konoplyanka for some time, who has played his entire professional career to date at Ukrainian side Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.

The Stoke Sentinel reports that no deal has been agreed for the 25-year old, however, Atletico are believed to be not far off in securing the in-demand winger.

Diego Simeone sees Konoplyanka as a replacement for the outgoing Arda Turan, who has been linked with Chelsea and Barcelona in recent days.
