Stoke City are weighing up a swap bid for Wolves winger Michael Kightly.
Stoke have failed with a £2 million offer for Kightly.
The Sentinel says Wolves remain in the market for at least one new central defender, so that could leave the door ajar for Danny Higginbotham to act as a makeweight in any Stoke move for Kightly.
Higginbotham remains keen to seek first-team football elsewhere - either on loan or permanently - if he is surplus to requirements at the Britannia.
