Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is delighted with the capture of former Reading striker Dave Kitson.

"His goalscoring record is exceptional," said Pulis. "He has scored goals at every level he has played at and he will fit in well to the way we play.

"Everyone around the city will be delighted that we have got such a quality player."

Pulis also revealed that Stoke fought off competition from another Premier League club to secure Kitson's signature.

"We've nipped in before other clubs and one that has been in the Premier League for some time came in right at the death and tried to take Dave away from us."
