Stoke boss Hughes hopeful of Begovic penning new contract

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes hopes to see Asmir Begovic soon pen a new deal.

Begovic has just 15 months left on his current deal and may be attracted to any Champions League club offering him a move this summer.

But Hughes stressed: "We're not worried about Asmir. We are able to offer him a lot of the things he wants. We're a top-half Premier League side and we've backed it up.

"He's playing regularly at the moment and has the platform. He's enjoying his football and environment.

"That makes the process of re-negotiating more simple. We can offer him pretty much everything he needs.

"He knows what we have to offer and he will continue to develop and his profile will be high here. There's no real necessity to rush to leave this club. Asmir knows this.

"He has a great depth of feeling for the club. You don't underestimate the feeling he has.

"We don't want to talk about selling him, we will only talk about re-negotiating.

"Discussions will take place at the end of the season and we're hopeful they will turn out to be positive.

"We can't judge where his advisors think he will be, but we will hope it will be resolved to our benefit. We will hope to resolve it before pre-season."
