St Etienne coach Claude Puel is keen to bring Leicester City midfielder Nampalys Mendy back to France.

Puel worked with Mendy as Leicester manager and is a fan of the former Nice star.

Mendy is coming off contract at the end of this season and in talks with clubs abroad with the prospect of staying in England now a remote possibility.

Puel is keen on a reunion, though it's been relayed to Mendy's minders that he'll have to accept a hefty reduction on his Leicester wages to see the deal happen.

The midfielder is also in Bosman talks with Udinese and Trabzonspor.
