Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld explains that Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone taught him to thoroughly enjoy keeping clean sheets.
Alderweireld arrived in England in the summer of 2014 on a season-long loan to Southampton from Atleti.
The 27-year-old, who joined Spurs permanently last summer, has managed to establish himself as arguably one of the best defenders in the Premier League over the course of the last two seasons.
Alderweireld learnt a lot from former boss Simeone at the Vicente Calderon and the Belgian has explained that the meticulous Atletico manager taught him, as a defender, to really covet clean sheets
He said: "Diego Simeone taught me to enjoy clean sheets.
"Even if it's 3-0 or 4-0, like it was at Stoke two weeks ago, the thing is to get the clean sheet, to get good numbers.
"You take that mentality all the way [to the full-time whistle] and you take it to the next game.
"Always be focused and never let it go – that's something I've learned so much. I learned that from Simeone."
