Spurs and Juventus head-to-head for Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo

Tottenham are pushing to sign Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have offered a fee of around £20 million as well as Toby Alderweirald to Roma as they look to get the deal for Zaniolo over the line.

The youngster was a leading light at the Stadio Olimpico last season, and Spurs have identified him as their number one choice following the capture of Tanguy Ndombele.

The north Londoners have made a cash-plus-player offer for Zaniolo's services, although they will have to compete with Juventus for his signature.

The Italian champions are also in the running to sign the midfielder, and the report claims that Turin is the player's preferred destination.

Roma, however, are interested in signing Alderweireld, who currently has a £25m release clause that expires on July 25.

Paulo Fonseca's side are reluctant to sell but could be persuaded for around £40m for Zaniolo, but Spurs appear hopeful that the inclusion of the Belgian defender will lower that asking price.

Juventus are also looking to lower Roma's price tag by including a trump card of their own in Gonzalo Higuain, who is also of interest to the Giallorossi.
