Manchester United's hopes of signing Christian Eriksen were effectively ended when the Red Devils failed to qualify for the Champions League.
United had believed Eriksen to be a perfect replacement for Paul Pogba, but despite Eriksen's interest to leave Spurs; he will only depart for a club competing in the premier European competition, says the Daily Express.
It's unclear whether that's because qualification would have given them significantly more funds, or because the player wants to play his football in the competition.
Tottenham chairman Levy is mindful that Eriksen is unlikely to sign a new deal meaning he would be free to leave in a year's time.
