'Special' Aguero praised by Man City skipper Kompany

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has described Sergio Aguero as a 'special' player.

The Argentine striker kept City's Champions League hopes alive by scoring a match-winning hat-trick in the dramatic 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

Aguero converted from the penalty spot in the 21st minute after Mehdi Benatia was sent off before ten-man Bayern hit the front by half-time thanks to goals from Xabi Alonso and Robert Lewandowski.

But Aguero pounced in the 85th minute to level the scores before producing an injury-time winner which allowed City to go equal with CSKA Moscow and AS Roma on five points, giving them a chance of progressing to the Round of 16, and delighting skipper Kompany in the process.

"If you want to succeed at anything, you need a special player in a special form, otherwise you just don't win anything," Kompany told ITV.

"He's our special player and when he's in that form he makes things achievable that otherwise wouldn't be."
