Southampton are reportedly interested in negotiating a player-plus-cash deal that would see Victor Wanyama join Tottenham in exchange for Erik Lamela.
The Daily Mail is reporting Spurs have discussed an £18million offer for Wanyama with Southampton, who are also hopeful of acquiring Lamela on loan as part of the deal.
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is reportedly concerned with the depth of his squad and is unwilling to let players leave if suitable replacements are not forthcoming.
Wanyama was left out of the Saints' squad for their clash with Norwich on Sunday as the distraction over the transfer saga lingers.
"It was important to play with players who are really committed to the team and really focussed. The situation of Victor is he has lost some focus to the club and that was the reason I took finally to keep him out of the squad," Koeman said post game.
