Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin faces summer suitors Tottenham today.
It is understood Spurs never bid more than £12m for the midfielder, and manager Ron Koeman smiled when asked, saying there was never a "serious" bid from White Hart Lane for his star man.
"It was very important (that Saints kept Schneiderlin) but we spoke a lot about that and it's a new situation because I think the player now is very happy to stay," reflected Koeman.
"Maybe he had some doubts about the ambition of the club but I think if you ask Morgan now about ambition it's still the ambition we like to have.
"He's a key player and he shows that he's a key player.
"He scores, his defending, his attacking and he's a France international player and for those kind of players you like to do everything to keep them in the team."
