Southampton manager Jones finds Edozie positive

Southampton manager Nathan Jones praised the performance of youngster Sameul Edozie.

The 19-year-old arrived from Manchester City in the summer, but finally got his chance in the Premier League in a 3-1 loss to Brighton on Boxing Day.

However, Jones also admitted that needing to rely on a 19-year-old at such a critical time of the season was less than ideal.

“He's been a real positive since we came in," the Welshman said post-game.

“We brought him on against Liverpool and he was fantastic.

“We then brought him on against Lincoln (City, in the EFL Cup) and he was fantastic. Today he was fantastic too.

“It's a shame that we're relying on a teenager to really light the place up though," Jones added.

“We have to be better all over and if we're better all over then performances like Sammy's will win us games rather than trying to get us back into them."
