Southampton fullback Walker-Peters: Goal an indescribable feeling

Southampton fullback Kyle Walker-Peters was proud to score in their draw with Manchester City.

His goal sent Saints well on their way at St Mary's; his first Premier League goal a superb outside of the boot finish past Ederson after just seven minutes.

Then came the defending, something Saints did superbly well but for a lapse on 65 minutes when Aymeric Laporte levelled.

The hosts held out for a point, meaning it's eight unbeaten at St Mary's.

“We're really happy with the result," said the 24-year-old, “We've had two games this season where we've taken a point against Man City, the champions, so we're really happy.

“I think everyone watching them this season can see they move the ball really quickly. You've really got to stay switched on upstairs because if you don't they pick you apart.

“We had to dig deep but sometimes you have to do that. We did that well today.

Walker-Peters of course touched on his first Premier League goal. A finish he's looking forward to reliving post-match.

“Indescribable [feeling]. I'm really happy to get my first Premier League goal. I haven't seen it back yet but I think it's a decent finish and I can't wait to get inside and see it.

“We work on that in training with the wide players combining and I just did that and it ended up with a goal. The training payed off."
