Southampton are set to open talks with Victor Wanyama regarding a new contract.
The 24-year-old midfielder has two years remaining on his current Saints deal but the south coast club are determined to tie him down for the long-term.
Kenyan international Wanyama is a key performer in the centre of midfield for Ronald Koeman and the Saints want to ensure he remains at St Mary's Stadium unlike many of his former teammates like Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Morgan Schneiderlin who have all moved on over the past 12 months.
