Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard was left disappointed by his side's inability to reach the Euro 2020 final.

Vestergaard and his fellow defenders put in a resolute display against England at Wembley on Wednesday, but lost 2-1 after an extra time Harry Kane penalty.

While England had more of the ball and opportunities later in the game, Vestergaard does feel his side could have emerged victorious.

Asked about the game, Vestergaard said, per theDaily Echo: "They're a good team. I don't know how their chances are against Italy, I haven't played Italy. Italy look very strong as well.

"I thought we gave it everything we had and we had a shot at beating England. I'm not worried about their chances in the final, I'm not really bothered to be honest right now.

"I'm just gutted that we aren't in it."
