Southampton boss Ruben Selles says Bournemouth deserved their 1-0 win at St Mary's on Thursday night.
Marcus Tavernier struck after halftime to leave Saints rockbottom on the Premier League table.
Selles later said, "I don't think we were good enough. Until we conceded the goal we weren't in the game and a lot of decisions didn't go with us. It was not good enough.
"We did not get the sensation and we lose the pace and the sensation of being high pressure, and we didn't get that back.
"It is getting harder and we just need to keep fighting and try to win. We have a game in three days and we have to recover quick. We need to be more robust in what we do."
On hooking captain James Ward-Prowse, he added: "He had bad night, he has a cough and it was some problems with the chest so he played, but with the rain and the weather it was too much for him so we took him out."
