Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl says they must be patient with Sekou Mara.

Mara joined the St Mary's side from Bordeaux in July, as part of a deal for an initial 11million Euros.

The 20-year-old has started just twice in the Premier League across nine appearances – spanning 209 minutes in total.

Asked what he wanted to see from Mara for him to appear in the Premier League proper more regularly, Hasenhuttl replied: “The intensity in the game. I think, especially the runs against the ball are definitely not on a level we need to have when you want to press.

“The issue is that we see very often players, they aren't used to it because they have never done it in the time before and then it takes a little bit longer.

“When you see some others they have no problem to adapt quick to this game. Some need a little bit longer. But this is something he has to learn."
