Son content after debut campaign with Leverkusen

Son Heung-min felt satisfied after producing a scoring finish to his debut season with Bayer Leverkusen.

The 21-year old South Korea international scored a 53rd-minute winner as die Werkself came from a goal down to edge Werder Bremen 2-1 at the BayArena to wrap up the campaign.

The goal was Son's 10th of the league season, following his move from Hamburg at the beginning of the term, and he admitted it was a pleasing season from an individual perspective.

"Yes, I'm very happy about what we've done this season," he told bundesliga.com.

"Of course I also had a phase in which I wasn't playing very well, but that's football. Things can't always go well for you.

"I've learnt a lot this season and really enjoyed myself. It was also important for me to score my tenth goal of the season.

"That sounds a lot better than nine and it was important for me psychologically. I'm satisfied with my season."

Leverkusen ended up fourth on the Bundesliga table with 19 wins from their 34 fixtures and Son felt it wasn't too bad a result after losing eight of 11 league matches between December and March.

"I think we could have got more out of it. We had quite a crisis, but we came through it well," he added.

"We've got to be very happy that we've finished fourth in the end."
