Manchester United are comfortably into the Europa League final despite losing 3-2 to Roma in Italy on Thursday.

The Red Devils won 6-2 in the first leg last week which left the Italian side needing five straight goals to advance.

Their task became almost impossible when Edinson Cavani converted a one-on-one after being put through by Fred.

To their credit, Roma did not lie down in the second half, reducing the deficit with goals from Edin Dzeko and Bryan Cristante.

But it was Cavani who once again came to the rescue, netting his seventh goal in six games by connecting onto Bruno Fernandes' cross and heading down and past Roma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante.

Nicola Zalewski gave Roma victory on the night when his strike deflected off Alex Telles with five minutes remaining.

But an 8-5 aggregate score books United's flight to Gdansk on May 26 where they will face Villarreal.

It will be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first final as United manager and he will be hoping to add his first piece of silverware to the club's remarkable trophy cabinet.
