Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois refused to hit out at Atletico Madrid fans after their 3-1 win.
Courtois played his first match at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano since joining Real Madrid and was whistled throughout, while he also had toy rats thrown at him.
"I was calm and had a cool head," the former Chelsea keeper later said of his approach to this game.
"I didn't see the plaque, I'm not about that.
"I was preparing to play.
"I was here for three years and that can't be erased.
"I have maximum respect for Atletico.
"People respect me and the Atletico fans I meet on the street wish me the best.
"What happened is that this is a derby, so it's a different kind of match."
Los aficionados al Atlético de Madrid, no perdonan a Courtois!!
