Alan Smith backs himself to get goals for Newcastle United if he is played as a striker this season.

Smith, who is behind Mark Viduka, Obafemi Martins and Michael Owen in the pecking order, said: "If I'm going to be played up front, I have to get goals. I know I can do that."
