Shane Smeltz has left Gold Coast United for the second time this season to try his luck overseas.
The New Zealand international's move to China on the eve of the A-League season fell through but he is now on his way out to join Turkish outfit Genclerbirligi.
Smeltz will undergo a medical before signing a two-year deal with the Ankara-based club if contract negotiations are successful.
A decision on Smeltz is expected later this week but United have already started the search for his replacement with former Adelaide United man Bruce Djite the first name to be linked.
The 23-year old, currently with Genclerbirligi, has already been linked with Melbourne Victory this season but it seems that United may move for him before the current transfer window closes on August 31.
