Smalling: CSKA win 'testament' to Man Utd adaptability

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling says that his side's comfortable 4-1 Champions League win over CSKA Moscow was a testament to their adaptability.

The England international thinks that United played the best first half of their season in their toughest Champions League group game.

He said: "Scoring those goals in the first half, that's probably the best first half we have played all season.

"To come here in arguably one of our toughest games in the group I think it's testament to our team. We are showing we can adapt, play different formations and play in different ways.

"It has set us up nicely and we can't ask for anything more. If we can keep up this form, hopefully we can finish top of the group."
