Danny Simpson is happy to stay at Newcastle United.
He called himself 'the Great Survivor' when he appeared to be on his way out in the summer after refusing a new £20,000-a-week contract. French star Mathieu Debuchy seemed to be on his way in.
But after Simpson's own links with Reading and Aston Villa came to nothing, he is now targeting another season at the Toon.
He said: "I'm still here. Just call me the great survivor. I never doubted it despite everything being said. It's been strange with the fans as half have been telling me to stay.
"The other half have been saying 'I hear you're going, all the best'."
