Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is targeting a sensational move for Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

Ok Diario says Simeone is seeking an experienced centre-half and has settled on bringing Pique to Madrid in January.

With the two clubs in the middle of negotiations to lower the price of Antoine Griezmann's clause, the name of Gerard Piqué has been raised by Atlético Madrid. Simeone would be willing to add Pique to his squad, which would be included in the permanent deal for Griezmann.

So far this season, Piqué has managed just 135 minutes of action - this being his lowest figure as a Barca player.

Simeone would sign Pique to play him, as he's been left frustrated by the form of Mario Hermoso and Stefan Savic.
