Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has stated that Kevin De Bruyne will benefit from playing alongside the likes of Yaya Toure and David Silva.

City's club record signing has enjoyed a fantastic start to life at the Etihad Stadium and on current form, the Belgian international looks well worth the £54.5million the Premier League side shelled out on him this summer.

That said, De Bruyne still has a very long way to go in order to be able to justify his price tag and Pellegrini believes that playing alongside top class players such as Silva and Toure will help the 24-year-old fulfil his true potential.

Pellegrini said: "Maybe he had to play before he was quite ready and it would have been useful to have worked more for the team but he has given his answer on the pitch.

"He is a very technical player and playing with David and Yaya will help his development as a stronger player."
