Sigurdsson: Rooney and I talked a lot about DC United move

Gylfi Sigurdsson has confirmed he held talks with DC United before signing for Lyngby.

The 34 year-old made a successful comeback for Iceland last week.

The former Everton midfielder played with Wayne Rooney at Goodison Park and admits he spoke with the then DC United coach about a MLS move.

"There were definitely talks going on, but I dragged it out a bit as I didn't know what I wanted," he recalled.

"It ended up that Freysi (Freyr Alexandersson) had already called, called and called and offered me training and this and that, so it was the best offer."

The Icelander was asked how much he talked to Rooney, now in charge of Birmingham City, about a possible move.

"We talked quite a lot," he added.
