Sigurdsson makes successful Iceland return: An extra wild welcome

Lyngby midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson was touched by the support of Iceland fans after last night's 1-1 draw with Luxembourg.

The former Everton star started the game and was cheered everytime he touched the ball after a harrowing almost three years endured in England.

"It was hard not to hear, it was already in my warm-up and when I came in. I have never received such a reception here, it was an extra wild welcome," Sigurdsson told Fotbolti.

Sigurdsson, 34, signed a contract with Lyngby at the end of August. At that time, he was completely out of shape. As such, the comeback with Iceland has also come earlier than expected.

"I think. In Lyngby I may have trained fully 10-14 times. It has gone quickly. I know there is a long way to go and it will probably be a few months before I am in top form," Sigurdsson added.
