Siena sporting director Manuel Gerolin has welcomed the interest of Roma in their defender Simone Loria.

"We are very happy that Roma are interested in him," Gerolin told Romanews.eu. "We have an excellent relationship with all the Giallorossi directors.

"There hasn't been any direct contact yet, but it is premature to talk about the market because the winter transfer window has only just closed.

"I think that Lori will certainly be useful for Roma as he is a great player. People are really asking themselves why he hasn't had a great career so far.

"He would be a big swoop for Luciano Spalletti and I would advise them to go for it."
