Sheffield Wednesday are targeting Manchester United starlet Jesse Lingard for a loan deal.

Lingard, 22, netted in Manchester United's Under-21 victory over Everton on Monday - a game watched by Wednesday scout Glenn Roeder, says the Daily Star.

Though the ace has earned plenty of plaudits for his dynamic and mature performances, he is unlikely to break into the senior starting XI.

The Yorkshire club are currently 11th in the Championship table would provide Lingard ample opportunity to develop.
