Sheffield Utd boss Wilder furious with Duffy: He's out

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder says Mark Duffy is leaving Bramall Lane.

The veteran midfielder wanted a new pay deal following the Blades' promotion back to the Premier League after an absence of 12 years.

But, instead, Duffy,33, was told by Bramall Lane boss Wilder that he could look for another club.

Wilder rapped:"He came to see me and talked about getting a new deal. I reminded him he signed one 18 months ago that put him on Premier League money, and that he also got a promotion bonus in May.

“The money I have got to spend is there to bring in new players that will improve the group - not to spend on players who are already under contract.

“We told him that and he said he wanted to pursue different options, so I gave him the time off to do that.

“But he won't dictate to me when he signs a new contract, and neither will his agent. It's as simple as that.

“He clearly thinks his future is elsewhere and he's obviously not happy with the situation here. I guess it's fair to say the conversation we had was a short one."
