Newcastle United should break the bank to sign goalkeeper David de Gea in January.
That is the view of club legend Alan Shearer, who believes the club's season is on the line.
De Gea is a former Manchester United keeper who was let go in the summer and has not yet signed with another team.
On Newcastle's recruitment, Shearer told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I would agree goalkeeper and center forward would be the two main priorities for me. But good luck trying to find a good center forward that you can bring in for a decent amount of money."
On De Gea, Shearer replied emphatically: "Yeah, I would. I think Newcastle need a goalkeeper, and De Gea is out there.
“I know the salary would be huge but they wouldn't have to pay a fee for him."
