Xherdan Shaqiri insists Liverpool's ambition remains as strong as ever.

A first league championship in three decades is expected to follow on from last year's Champions League triumph and the Reds have also lifted the UEFA Super Cup FIFA Club World Cup this season too.

Shaqiri told Liverpoolfc.com: “Everybody wants to achieve as much as possible, but I'm also very happy with what I achieved until now because I'm coming from a small country and coming from the street. I cannot complain.

"But I always try to stay grounded and stay myself and just be happy with what we've got.

"Slowly, slowly of course everybody wants to achieve as much as possible.

"The Premier League title is especially very important for this club and for a lot of players here because not a lot of players won titles.

"It's very important for them too. For a few years it was always coming, coming and playing well, but no title. This big club needs to fight every year for the title."
