Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic insists they're worthy Europa League winners.

Sevilla defeated Roma on penalties after the scores finished 1-1 following extra-time.

Rakitic told UEFA: "It seems unreal, it may seem strange, but after winning the Europa League six times, winning it for seventh time is unbelievable. Once again we have shown what this title means for the club, for us, for our fans.

"It was unbelievable. I want to thank everyone who traveled all the way to Budapest to be with us.

"It's a team that loves this competition like we do and this saying is not just marketing, we feel it. We love this title. I want to thank President Ceferin for presenting it to us. We will take care of it well in Seville.

"I think it was a very close game until the goal, where both teams showed a lot of respect for the other team. They made the most of a referee decision that could have gone either way and that we have to respect. And in a way I think it worked well because from that moment on we completely dominated the match, the pace of the game and everything that happened on the pitch, somehow that was the feeling we had, it was only a matter of time before we entered their area and scored a goal, it was us who sought the victory, we chased Roma and I honestly believe that the best team won."
